Although Glenn is only sixteen, the decision was made to sell his 14.2 connemara and look for a lightweight working/show hunter

The phone call came saying there was an Intermediate Eventer with 34 points and plenty of experience over big tracks. Glenn and orbitall (Herbie) immediately clicked and a deal was struck. Herbie has enormous presence under saddle and is a big moving ten year old grey 16.2 by Orbis, an American stallion, out of an lrish mare. It was the end of June, and the same procedure as always took place- Lizzie from Saracen Feeds came and sorted out a regime to put on condition and weight.

It was decided his first show would be Equifest at the East of England showground, in the middle of August, less than two months after he had arived. This is now the largest show in the country and in his first flat class Herbie came 2nd in the Novice Hunter. In the Eventing class he was Reserve champion. Glenn and Herbie competed in two more shows, winning the Restricted working Hunter at Moreton in Marsh and gaining their Amateur Hunter ticket for the RIHS 201 l. This is a pair to certainly watch for next season as this is only the beginning!
